Our First Giveaway!!!

Happy November everyone!

I am so so so excited to be able to announce The Goodbyn Girls' VERY FIRST GIVEAWAY! That is right! In honor of our "grand opening" we have decided to giveaway a Goodbyn to one of our lucky readers!
So... how exactly can you get your lovely hands on a fun new way to pack your lunch? Simple... Our first challenge: The 3 Cs!

So here's how it works:
  • Have fun packing your lunch bento-style. I am not saying you need to already have a goodbyn to participate in the challenge. There are tons of ways to pack a lunch bento style. Think of a Japanese bento box. When we originally started planning this blog I didn't have a Goodbyn myself, but I had several glass pyrex storage containers that I used to pack my DH's lunch in. I still considered it "bento style." Basically, think "inside the box" (bahahaha!) and try to make it as eco-friendly as you can! Let's see how creative you can be!
  • Your bento lunch must include each of the 3 Cs: Cucumber, Carrots, and Cheese.
  • Take a photo of your bento lunch and post a link to it using the button at the bottom of this post. It can be a blog entry, a facebook photo (please use the "public link" found at the very bottom of the page when linking us to a FB photo so that we can see it regardless of your privacy settings/whether or not we have facebook ourselves); or whatever else you can think of - if we can see it, you get an entry!
  • Post your the link here before 1 December, 2010, after which we will be doing a random drawing from all entries.  There will only be 1 entry per person.  Thanks!
Easy enough, hey? Let your creativity flow and have fun with this challenge! We can't wait to see what you come up with. Don't live in the US? Don't worry, neither to I (or Georgina or Stacy! lol). Please participate. If you live on the Earth you can participate in this challenge! We are willing to ship it anywhere. And to help get your creative juices flowing - here are some examples from the lovely Lunch Bunch!

Georgina had cucumber and grated carrot sandwiches with cubed cheese
peaches, bacon crisps and vanilla cake.

So there you have it! You have the entire month of November to come up with something fun and different for your lunch and the chance to win your very own Goodbyn! And of course, be sure to become a follower and check back here throughout the month for more fun lunch ideas!

  1. hey there ladies!!! how fun is this!!?! so fun seeing some familiar faces in the pics on the right over there!

  2. Hey Chrissy! You packing a lunch? :-)

  3. Hey Chrissy!! Where have you been!! LOL Great to see you here - now ... with all those boys of yours lets see some lunches! :)

  4. Awesome! Definitely doing this challenge.

  5. I have a question! Do you just eat whatever is in your lunch cold? Like the ravioli.

  6. Thanks for the question Kim. I'll let the others answer for themselves, but for my family . . . we prepare our lunches in the mornings, so anything that is actually cooked goes in the Goodbyn hot. My children eat fairly early so they are never dealing with "refrigerator" cold bentos.

The cold food is probably not going to be as cold (or the hot food as hot) when lunches are first prepared . . . but they weren't room temperature either. I also try to prepare foods that I think will fare well in an uninsulated lunchbox.

  7. Hi everyone, Erin here from Goodbyn... About the cooling question. We suggest prepping lunch the night before and storing it in the fridge overnight. You can also use the small rubbermaid (like 1"x2.5")ice packs - these can be found at the larger retail stores like target. We also suggest freezing the drink bottle halfway, topping it off in the morning and it serves to cool the byn.
    Hope this helps!

  8. Kim, I generally prepare my meals the day before, and so the foo that is actually packed in my goodbyn I try to make something that will be good cold. If there is something I want to send with DH that needs to be warmed up in the microwave I will put it inside a glass container and either send it alongside the Goodbyn, or, depending on what it is - I have a few glass containers that fit inside the Goodbyn and my DH can just lift it out and heat it up. That way, he doesn't have to worry about forgetting a container at work - he can just plop it right back in his bento. This works best for us because my DH doesn't have a scheduled lunch break and sometimes eats quite late in the afternoon.

  9. My son is the pasta freak of the family and he likes his cold. If I am inluding something that needs to stay really hot, I just add a thermos into the mix. I would like to add that we have had our Goodbyn for a year now and with all of that tomato sauce, it has NOT discoloured or stained at all!!

  10. Bummer... my son has a list of allergies a mile long, and we can't do the "3c's!"

  11. Awww, Rebecca, I'm really sorry to read that. What sorts of things CAN he eat . . . maybe we can work that into another challenge. ???

  12. I always make my lunch the night before - usually with left overs from dinner. I put it in the fridge and leave it overnight, then grab it about 7.30am put it in my bag and its off to work I go (hi ho!) I eat lunch at 1pm and its still perfectly fine, in the summer I filled the juice carton with a drink that I placed in the freezer overnight - it kept the box cool all day. I always eat pasta's, rice etc cold. Yummy!

  13. Wow.. you girls really pack alot of stuff into those lunch boxes.

  14. Here is my entry!

It's not packed in a Goodbyn, but that is why I'm entering the contest... because I really want one! Thank you for hosting such a fun giveaway!

  15. Leesa - looks great! Would you mind posting it again using the "add your link" button at the bottom of the blog entry? Good luck!

  16. Fun! I had two I could've entered...I chose the one that I'd made for myself, rather than the one I'd made for my husband. I can't wait to see what others enter!

  17. I posted! Three of them actually!

  18. I have ideas that I have been planning out the ears for my kids for November. Are we only allowed to post one? or can there be more? I ask now but when it comes down to it I am sure I will run out of time or the creative juices will dry up. Let me know and thanks for the contest,

  19. Ali, you can share as many as you like, but there is only one entry per participant to win the Goodbyn. Can't wait to see your lunch!

  20. My entry is up! I had some much fun and the kids all helped come up with fun ideas and ways to finish it off. It took about 20 min. to make and 2 to eat. Happy Thanksgiving,

  21. what about Jenna's 3 C's: Cookies, Crackers, and Cereal? That's what she'd get if we let her. Cookie Crisp cereal and Saltine Crackers,

  22. I tried to include everything with a C just for fun...if only i had remembered cantaloupe!! That would have covered the grapes =) Thanks for the challenge!! I look forward to more to inspire me!

  23. Not sure where to post what was in dh's lunch that day.. but he had his famous peanut butter sandwich. He also had 2 mandarin oranges, sliced carrots, sliced cucumber and some cut up pieces of cheddar cheese oh and 3 chocolate chip cookies. He also takes an apple on the side and will have a glass of water or sometimes coffee with lunch.

  24. I posted mine last night. Example of a lunch that my son takes to school. I ended up with 7 C's - cheese, cucumber, carrots, chicken and chocolate chip cookies. :) Can't wait to see who wins! :) Thanks for the opportunity to win a Goodbyn!
